DNA testing has opened a whole new door on the story of our ancestors. Through studying our Y-DNA, scientists can tell with some certainty just who our male ancestors were. Since it's the male line that links us with a clan, this new data is fascinating for those of us with an interest in clan history. Y-DNA is only carried by men, but if you're a woman you could ask your brother, father or paternal uncle to give a sample on your behalf. If you would like to contibute to the growing database of Ewing and MacEwen DNA, please join the Ewing Y-DNA Project and help us all to get a clearer understanding of our past.If you have already had your DNA sampled, you can still join this project. You can also visit the project to find out more about what's going on. So far, it has mainly attracted people with the surname Ewing, but it's the only such DNA project which is open to anyone in the clan, and it would be great to see more MacEwens getting involved. |
